The Victoria Glacier in Alberta stretches across monumental expanses of ice and rock, a landscape of enduring presence. Its vastness invites reflection, offering a quiet anchor in a changing world.
For Jonathan De Mont, photographing the glacier became a moment of renewal. After a period of personal struggle, the high mountains restored a fragile balance. Back in Belgium, a postcard discovered in his mother’s attic—sent in 1948 by his grandfather from Canada—created a subtle connection across generations, linking past, present, and the personal journey of recovery.
Each image captures not only the immensity of the glacier but also the quiet interplay between landscape, memory, and human resilience.
