Bolaven Plateau
Laos
2017
The Bolaven Plateau in southern Laos is a landscape where jungle, waterfalls, and volcanic soil sustain both beauty and hardship. Towering trees give way to clearings marked by deforestation, and villages endure a daily life shaped by scarcity. Poverty is visible, yet so too is resilience: families working the land, children playing along dusty roads, gestures of welcome offered despite the distance of language and culture.
The portraits and landscapes in this series capture fragments of that balance — the grandeur of nature alongside the quiet persistence of those who inhabit it. In Bolaven, survival and dignity intertwine, revealing a fragile harmony between human life and the land.
